Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl
Fall Knowledge Master Open
A pair of Vermont teams cracked the overall top 25 from among 794 schools competing in the 2005 Fall Knowledge Master Open, with Hanover High School leading the way.
Hanover correctly answered 193 of the 200 multiple-choice questions and scored 1714 out of a possible 2000 points to place 10th overall in the competition. It marked the second straight KMO in which the New Hampshire school placed in the overall top 10. Hanover has been the Vermont Scholars' Bowls top scoring team in eight of the last nine KMOs.
Champlain Valley continued its run of overall top-30 finishes by amassing 1660 points and finishing in 21st position. The Redhawks answered an impressive 195 questions correctly but lost out to Hanover on speed bonuses.
Essex (1534 points, 82nd place), Mt. Mansfield (1452, 156th) and Rice (1437, 178th) rounded out the top five among Vermont teams. Full results for Vermont teams are listed below.
Thomas Jeffereson High School for Science and Technology of Alexandria, Va., won the overall championship with 1845 points.
