Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl
Fall Knowledge Master Open
A record seven Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl teams competed and a pair ranked in the top 100 as the Fall Knowledge Master Open was held on December 6, 2000 at schools across the world.
Burlington correctly answered 189 of the 200 multiple-choice questions in the computerized test and finished with 1624 of a possible 2000 points to lead the state for the seventh consecutive KMO with a 28th-place overall finish out of the more than 1,000 teams that participated. Hanover actually got more questions right -- hitting 191 -- but received fewer bonus points and ended up in second place in Vermont (98th overall) with 1502 points, just ahead of Mt. Anthony (1475 points, 127th position).
Vermont teams from Thetford (1122 points), Spaulding (1121), Colchester (1097), and Montpelier (1085) also competed in the tournament. The overall national champion was Montgomery Blair High School of Silver Spring, Maryland with 1797 points.
