Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl
Spring Knowledge Master Open
Hanover cracked the top 20 overall as a record total of eight Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl teams competed in the Spring Knowledge Master Open was held on April 17, 2002.
Hanover (N.H.) answered 185 of the 200 multiple-choice questions to tally 1633 points out of a possible 200 on the computer-based quiz. That score was good enough to rank the Marauders 18th out of 925 schools competing in the United States and five other countries. The 18th-place finish was the best for a Vermont team since Burlington placed seventh in the Spring of 2000.
Champlain Valley was the top finishing school in Vermont, correctly answering 178 questions for 1495 points and a 89th-place finish. Burlington got the most questions right, 187, and followed with 1453 points and 121st place. Other participating Vermont teams were: Thetford (1164 points), Lake Region (1074), Montpelier (1072), Spaulding (979) and Lyndon (861).
Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology of Alexandria, Virginia was the overall champion with 1772 points.
